Something little so you know I'm still around. :D

I'm currently doing the pages for my comic, so I haven't been very active at posting stuff here, sorry...

So, this thing is just another one of my conceptions for my comic. I was thinking of a re-design for the suit the main characters use in the comic. I'm not too sure about this one though, it's quite complicated to draw for 20 pages! :/ Anyway- the characters would quite obviously have their heads protected as well in contrary to this concept, it's just more fun to draw the faces like this.

Still, I thought it was good enough to show here- :)

The suit overall is a good concept. I do like the details with way the suit shows the muscle groups. However, this is a picture I feel would be better with color. I would tend to think it would look nice in one of the cool colors

nice suit :la:

it does remind me of crisis for some reason maybe the muscle alike texture at the limbs is a bit alike :D

but like you mentioned it indeed looks like a bunch of work for 20 pages to draw but it would look ultra cool through :p

Yep, that's true... Crysis was one of the inspirations to this one. :D It's not totally similar, but the basic idea is same(similar designs have also been seen in Ghost in the Shell). Even so, I think this one still needs some tweaking and more parts...

I think after I'm done with the concept, I'll incorporate it to the comic. Even if it's a ton of work, I want to do the best art for the comic- :)

Thanks.

"Maskista" tulee mieleen jotenkin Ghost in the shell :) Hyvää työtä muutenkin!

Jep, ei mikään ylläri että tulee, onhan se tullut luettua parisenkymmentä kertaa! :D Olkoon pieni tribuuttini Shirow'lle...

Pitää kuitenkin vielä suunnitella sopiva päänsuojaamisväline, mutta silmille tulee kuitenkin jotain tuon suuntaista... vähän meinaa tulla kiire näitten kanssa, parin sivun päästä pitäisi alkaa piirtää tätä sarjikseen! :S

Well done, I can see a lot of influences, I can has concept idea? Add some side-sensor gadgets on da side of the head-gear....because I like asymetric stuff lately...YOu could also add some kind of wrist gadgets on her forearms to help reloading/attaching/detaching addons on rifle.

She listens to music while ork-slayin' xD?

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I based the gun on this principle-

[link]

Efficent for microcaliber guns(3mm or less), once they develop an good enough power source.

Just had to mention that- ^^;

Sure- I'm quite a fan of Shirow Masamune's works, so there's some influences from him... other sources of inspiration are quite clear as well: Crysis(you know the game, right?) and Avatar. Then there are a bunch of other DA users who I watch, and pool ideas from. So it's kind of a mix between those, plus my own ideas of combat efficiency as well. I'll still modify this concept quite a bit, I think it needs more solid armor like there is on the torso there, plus spaces for the knives and other equipment(like for example a space for a PDA for suit control on left forearm). I don't think the concept will need much help for reloading/add-ons and stuff, the character won't need to be in combat for too long, so tweaking the gun while they're at it seems quite useless- I reckon they'll have the gear set up for the job before going at it.

Yep, and of course it'll need a helmet, I said that in the description also. It'd be incredibly stupid to go into combat without headgear! ^^; That's why I don't like the armor/suit concepts in games like Gears od War and Bulletstorm, by the way- too macho, and stupid for not having head protection...

Yeah, and I think she does listen to music! :D

Maaaan, that was long-

Well, it is for someone who's not into scifi or tech. Believe me, I've tested it! :D

That's why it's always very, very awesome when I meet someone who's into the same kind of stuff. That happens awfully rarely though... :(

Oh yeah, that's true- in the internet there are lots! :D

Though I was referring to real life which, sadly isn't like the internet in that aspect. ^^;

nice nice :) the gun seems to fall a little flat though because it's such a straight on shot compared to the rest of the figure.

Yep, very true... I was going to shade it a bit to make it more 3D, but i figured it'd be better like that since I like these concept/reference pics clear and easy to look at, to pick up details. Sounds very lazy and incompetent, which it actually is. ^^;

by the way, did you get my comment on Smackjeeves?

i wish we could all just be lazy artists, and eventually have robots just pick our images out from our brain :)

c'mon technology! XD

ooh, yeah.. i think i was in the middle of work or something @___@ gah I wish Smackjeees had a commenting system like DA. :(

how've you been? :) i kinna took one manga out of my places to go..i realized i'm spending too much time browsing the internet instead of doing something productive :(

Ah, I've dreamed of such a system many times... Everything would be so much easier! :D

Yep, that'd be good. The comment system they have now is kind of, how'd you say- unclear and hard to figure out. :( Anyway, the comment was about the guns and tech(since I'm such a scifi-technology geek!)- they could look a bit more harder, more gun-like, if that makes sense. I might be wrong with that one, since the style is a lot different than most scifi(probably just my preference). The colouringwork is still enviable though, I have to say- :)

I've been quite fine, my comic should come out this fall, an issue of first 50 or so pages. After that, I'll offer it forward to some bigger publishers I have contacts in, and I have a good vibe about it too. They like domestic stuff, especially when the art quality is high. It might be that I'll make my way to an actual comic artist in a few years...

It's pretty much same here with OM, I do check my account once in a while, but I'm pretty much dead there, I haven't posted anything in 4 months there. I've been going to finnish comic forums lately, and DA, they have more inspiring stuff going on in those places- plus I get assignments from them that pay. Besides, I have all the people I know from there on skype, so it's not that useful in that aspect either.

What kind of stuff have you been doing lately, besides the comic project?

ooh, right XD I think I'm gonna tweak Sakura's weapons to look more like that, it's just when they're energy they're kind of hard to make out... The bad guys have more sleeker looking weapons though cause they're all rich haha, they get to spend money on stylish designs!

:) and thanks... i want your detail drawing skillz though over coloring anyday XD

woot! :D Good job on getting it printed and published :) You should think about digital distribution sometime down the line too, a lot of people have been getting into that... even Marvel :(

I've been working on a few pinups... but mostly I've been playing Marvel vs Capcom 3 a lot and doing some Gundam Models, cause i'm a huge nerd hahaha. XD I guess it's the closest thing to actually building a robot :)

Oh, but you could work out something similar as in District 9(the movie, you know)... those weapons were energy-based, plus cool looking. And yeah, of course the evil rich guys have guns that fit their fashionable suits- :D

Aww, come on, they're not that good(coloring is more versatile too)! And I think it's more of an obsession than a skill... ^^;

I did get another children's comic out already(plus some other random stuff), but that wasn't my own script though, and certainly not the kind of stuff I usually do... digital would be nice, but the problem is how to make money out of that. I don't know any local publishers who publish in digital form, either. The traditional way is pretty much dominating around here, still- and I prefer that over digital any day, so it's fine for me.

That's always a good use of time! I'm a huge geek as well, so I can relate to that totally- although I'd prefer building a tank instead of a robot. That's just me, though... :D

haha, I have so much respect for that movie because for once it was the humans that felt like a threat, and not the aliens ;) Props to them!

wow :D did you actually draw a bit more cartoony? I'm so used to seeing your realism stuff!

and ah, yeah.. you're right... I think the way digital works is getting people to sponsor/advertise for you. I mean, there are people with webcomics out there that just use them as their income, and they make a lot of money off ads :) even though as a viewer, we hate ads XD it's good that traditional is dominating... america is just so depressing sometimes haha.

Yeah, it was a different concept for once! :D I liked Avatar for the same reason, though the aliens in that one were kind of... well, not that excellent.

Maybe a bit more- it was a collaboration between several artists, so they gave me the darkest part of the story(surprise!) I have drawn more cartoony stuff as well, but I've given all those away before I got to scan them... those were mainly people asking me if I could draw something cartoony/cute/whatnot for them. I should upload some later, if I'll draw any here...

Yes, that way it would be possible to get some cash in... although, most webcomics are pretty much stripcomic-based. Good examples of those would be Penny Arcade and Cyanide&Happiness, those actually make enough money for their artists to live on. A story-based, longer comic is still pretty much in the traditional field, or at least I haven't heard of any succesful digital ones(succesful enough for steady income). Problem with those is of course how to keep people interested long enough while you're making the pages... :/

Hey, but maybe some of these days my comic will get published by Tokyopop, or some other international publisher... at least I can always dream! :D
