Ares Enterprises executives and military top brass watching the first full power test of their newest toy- the AISC Deepspace Horizon.

To commemorate this quite "official" end-of-the-world today, I've drawn this- my vision of an "end of a world". A very bureucratic ending with CEO and officials standing around a command deck of a carrier, watching a planet disintegrate after being hit. Some are excited, others terrified of the new weapon...

About the technique and such- I was testing out whether I could make a reflection on a window in front of the people. Now, it's not necessarily the best result I could've pulled off, but I think it's adequete for first try on something. :D

This piece was again one of the pics made for my publisher's christmas calendar here:

Also, this had to do with my comic as well, readable here:

Very cool!
At first I couldn't tell that it was a reflection as I thought she was gesturing over a hologram. But after reading your description, it all made sense. I was blown over! I can't help but look at each of their faces, then at the reflection of the stricken planet, then back to the people, then the reflection of the ship on the window pane above, then back again! Wow! The sheer magnitude of the entire scene!
I expect the entire crew to be very silent after this whole deed is done, no matter how much they justify their actions. =P
I love the colours and lighting used here. Despite the bright interior you've made it somber and dark by the blues and the gloomy shadows, doing justice to the entire situation. This is awesome.

Thanks! :D Originally I was thinking about having some sort framework for the window, so as to show that it was a window but then I realized it would obscure the people in the pic. Besides, one would think they'd have technology in the future to make a big window like that...

Good to know it had the desired effect, too! I wanted the people in the pic reflect similar feelings like what Oppenheimer talked about when they did the Trinity test- "some people laughed, some people cried, but most people were silent". They created this weapon, and even they are afraid of what it is. Though there is at least one among those people who doesn't need justification for their actions nor want it, and it's pretty obvious who that is...

Tässä on sommitelman puolesta hyvin elokuvallinen ote. Valo toimii myös hyvin.
